Welcome
If you have made your way to this site, you may be having an experience that I've had myself. The experience of being interested in learning about Catholic Indulgences but not knowing where to turn to find information, or how to apply such information once you've learned it.
It is my hope that this blog can help you with that.
NOTICE: This is only a personal reflection blog observing the topic of Indulgences and how they can be practiced. Please take the time to read the NOTICE page for more info on how the Catholic Church has installed regulations for the transfer of indulgence-related materials.

List of Grants (Pt. 1)

So here are the Grants of indulgence that are currently in effect. (This does not include the indulgences allowed for the Jubilee of 2025). Just to make it easier, the grants will be divided into 4 parts. Article 1. 1-10 Article 2. 11-20 ( HERE ) Article 3. 21-30 ( HERE ) Article 4.

The Value of an Indulgence
Before we address this question, let us examine WHY there is a supposed value to Indulgences. Indulgences remove temporal punishment due sin. What is that? Well, ‘temporal’ refers to time. Catholic sources define it as something that lasts only for a time, whose existence or activity will eventually cease. So Temporal Punishment would be: punishment that lasts only for a time, and it will eventually cease. This temporal punishment is caused by sin, and it is understood that

Official Resources - Who, What, and Where?
Where can I find Information regarding Indulgences?: To start us off, I would like to present the website of the Holy See, also known as the Website for the Vatican. The Holy See, Apostolic Penitentiary, and the Roman Pontiff (the Pope) all make use of this website in regards of releasing official documents and statements. So, naturally, if an indulgence document needs to be publicized, they will post it on this website. Here is the link to the Website for the Vatican The ne

The Catechism of the Catholic Church - Indulgences
X. Indulgences 1471 The doctrine and practice of indulgences in the Church are closely linked to the effects of the sacrament of Penance. What is an indulgence? What are Indulgence Works/Grants?
Although it is not explicitly defined anywhere in relation to indulgences some understanding of what “Works” and “Grants” are can still be observed based off of what Indulgence documents do say about them. Presented in the Apostolic Constitution Indulgentiarum doctrina ( OF POPE PAUL VI) of 1968, these (relevant) segments read as follows: (7…) The use of indulgences, which spread gradually, became a very evident fact in the history of the Church when the Roman Pontiffs decree

What is an Indulgence
The Catholic Church defines Indulgences as such: “An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment for sins, whose guilt is forgiven, which a properly disposed member of the Christian faithful obtains under certain and clearly defined conditions through the intervention of the Church, which, as the minister of Redemption, dispenses and applies authoritatively the treasury of the expiatory works of Christ and the saints.” The Catholic Church certainly loves s
