Abbreviations that are found at the end of an indulgence prayer/practice (like S. P. Ap., and S. C. Ind.,) are, in essence, a specific ecclesiastical approval for a particular indulgence.
Traditional indulgences are ordered by their last date of approval.
The full written outline of the requirements for a partial or plenary indulgence, found at the end of an indulgence prayer/practice, may be omitted if not all of the information is unique or notable. (You will see three dots when there is a break in text …)
CHAPTER III. ‘GOD THE SON’ – Art. IX. THE HOLY FAMILY – I. Invocations

Every invocation may be eligible for a partial indulgence, if applied correctly, under ‘General Grant’ 1. The specific reference in the 'Manuel of Indulgences' is as follows: A partial indulgence is granted to the Christian faithful who, while carrying out their duties and enduring the hardships of life, raise their minds in humble trust to God and make, at least mentally, some pious invocation.
CHAPTER V. “THE MOST BLESSED VIRGIN MARY” – Art. I “GENERAL DEVOTIONS TO THE MOST BLESSED VIRGIN” – I. Ejaculations and Invocations.

P.S. Prayers may be said on the memorial of any saint listed in the calendar recite, according to Grant 21. Although this is only an invocation, and it does not specifically address a saint other then the Virgin Mary, this prayer/ejaculation/invocation was created by St. Joseph Benedict Cottolengo. Perhaps, honor could still be shown to this saint by using his words of praise.
CHAPTER IX. “FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS” - Art. III. FOR MISSIONS IN PAGEN COUNTRIES
611. A Missionary Day - a) The faithful who on the last Sunday but one of October, or some other appointed by the local Ordinary, according to the regulations of the Rescript of the Sacred Congregation of Rites, April 14, 1926, take part in one of the sacred functions usually celebrated for the Missions, and offer their devout prayers for the conversion of pagans, may gain: An indulgence of 7 years. Those moreover, who make their confession, receive Holy Communion, and pray as above, may gain: A plenary indulgence.
b) The faithful in places where a Missionary Day is not observed, who on the last Sunday but one in October, visit some church or public oratory and pray for the conversion of pagans, may gain: An indulgence of 7 years. A plenary indulgence, if moreover they make their confession and receive Holy Communion (S. C. Rites, April 14, 1926; exhib. Nov. 16, 1927; S. P. Ap., Aug. 30, 1934 and March 25, 1936).
This indulgence as a whole is Notwithstanding. The current Grant 16 is the only indulgence that specifies activities within a Mission and this is what is states: A plenary indulgence is granted to the faithful who on the occasion of a mission have heard some of the sermons and are present for the solemn conclusion of the mission.
CHAPTER I. “THE TRIUNE GOD” - I. Ejaculations and Invocations
29. All through Thee, with The, and in Thee, O my God! An indulgence of 300 days (S. P. Ap., March 26, 1941).

CHAPTER II. “GOD THE FATHER” – Prayers
67. O God, who in the glorious Transfiguration of Thine only-begotten Son didst confirm the mysteries of faith by the witness of the Fathers, and in wondrous wise didst foretoken the perfect adoption of sons by the voice descending from the shining cloud: mercifully grant unto us to be made co-heirs with the very King of glory and bestow upon us a partaking of His glory. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen (Roman Missal). An indulgence of 5 years. A plenary indulgence on the usual conditions, when this prayer has been devoutly repeated every day for a month (S. C. Ind., Dec. 14, 1889; S. P. Ap., March 26, 1936).
Every prayer may be eligible for a partial indulgence, under Grant 15. The specific reference in the 'Manuel of Indulgences' is as follows: A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who for their personal edification devoutly spend time in mental prayer.
This concluded the Traditional Indulgences
Every prayer/practice that we evaluated today is taken from the last approved publication of the Raccolta. The Raccolta was once the official book/document/list of approved Indulgences. In its last publication there were 780+ individualized prayers/practices that were approved for gaining indulgences.
In 1967 indulgence practices were revised so that indulgences are now, today, granted more in the style of “category” of prayers/practices rather than individually. This leaves me with the question: how do the indulgenced prayers/practices from the Raccolta (traditional indulgence) line up with the indulgences of today? That question is what this “study” seeks to answer.
